Former Dom Perignon Chef de Cave Richard Geoffroy retired from his work at Dom Perignon and started a new passage in sake making in Japan. After fallen in love with Japan since the 90s, Richard Geoffroy had been on countless trips to Japan and has been friends with many icons in the sake and F&B industries! (Including teaming up with Masuda Brewery in Toyama in the making of IWA5). Such highly anticipated sake is finally released in 2020!
According to its website, IWA 5 was made through precise orchestration, including sake rice like Yamada Nishiki, Omachi, Gohyakumangoku and five different yeast were used with different sake brewing techniques to create the unison of IWA 5.
IWA 5 is now on sale exclusively on their online store (around 13,000yen/bottle excluding shipping; only sold within Japan) and a few hand-picked restaurants across the globe.
IWA 5 is undoubtedly one of the biggest buzzes among sake enthusiasts this year!
