Summer has arrived. Many people might think that the humid climate in Japan is quite tough. However, summer is also a season when sake is delicious. After rinsing off the sweat you had during the day in a bathtub, you can enjoy the outside breeze and pouring ice-cold cold sake into your throat… It can be said that there is no more joy than this.
Many events to enjoy summer & sake are held every year in Japan. Unfortunately, most of them have been canceled this year due to the influence of COVID-19, but they should be held next year. We will introduce some, so please refer to them when planning your trip for the Tokyo Olympics next year!

・Japanese sake (Washu) festival
First of all, we would like to introduce the “Washu Festival”. This year, it was scheduled to be held in Osaka Bay Tower in Osaka Prefecture and in front of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office in Tokyo, but unfortunately, it was canceled.
This is an extremely large-scale event that gathers more than 150 kinds of Japanese sake from 39 warehouses across the country. Moreover, the appeal of this event is not limited to its variety. The brewer comes to the venue, and visitors can enjoy Japanese sake while interacting with the person who is making the sake! It is a super recommended event for people such as: “I like sake but don’t have the knowledge and know much about types and characteristics…”, “I want to know more delicious sake!”, and “I want to enjoy the atmosphere while drinking it.”.
As it is a Japanese sake festival, so there are also sparkling sake, hot sake, plum wine, etc. in addition to cold sake. You can enjoy them to your heart’s content.

・Kayafeshu
Subculture, which Japan is proud of to the world. It can be said that the strongest is animation. The voice actor is the most popular presence among the staff who bring animation to life. “Kayafeshu” is an event that connects such a voice actor and sake. This is an event of the radio program “Kayanomi”, where a popular voice actor “Kayano Ai” just eats and speaks while drinking sake. It’s a voice actor event, but the content is truly a sake festival. You can enjoy the sake that has been introduced on the radio with snacks. This event, where you can enjoy a wide range of sake with her cute face and voice, is perfect for enjoying Japan. The 2020 event has not been announced yet, but it has been held continuously in 2018 and 2019, and the program is still continuing, so please check it out in anticipation!
This year’s fun has been crushed, but it’s also a good idea to make a plan for next year or later while enjoying delicious sake at home. Please make your plan to participate in events where you can fully enjoy sake in Japan!
